Announcing the Schedule of Events for BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks, July 3rd

To celebrate this Independence Day, the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Visit BG Ohio, Fireworks Project Team, and the City of Bowling Green, invite the community to come out and enjoy BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Join in the fun of the first time ever festival at this annual event.  Stroll the midway at the Wood County Fairgrounds with family, friends and neighbors and enjoy the activities.  Thanks to Visit BG Ohio, these activities will all be free!

  • 4 – 9 PM:  Multiple inflatables, including Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Leaps and Bounds, Hippo Chow Down and the Corn Maze. There’s something for everyone!  Children’s games with prizes donated by the VFW Post 1148
  • 4 – 6:30 PM:  Patriotic Face Painting, to prepare for the parade.
  • 7 PM:  Children are welcome to join in on a parade led by Uncle Sam on stilts. The parade will be approximately 30 minutes long.

Be sure to stop by the State Bank’s Gives Truck and enjoy a refreshing root beer float.   They will be located close to the kids games at the festival.  Thanks to the dedicated employees at State Bank, this cold treat will be offered for a donation to the BG Boom Fireworks.  An extra note of thanks also goes out to State Bank for their Liberty sponsorship of the BG Boom Fireworks and for all their community outreach.

The Bowling Green Community Band will return to this year’s event offering a wonderful selection of patriotic tunes.   The concert will be under the direction of Kathrine Lewis and will start at 8 pm near the Dairy Cattle Building on the corner of Cattle Drive and Grandstand Blvd.  There will be plenty of lawn area to set up your lawn chairs to sit and listen.  This is always a crowd favorite.

The Wood County Agriculture Society is organizing a trolley from Gate D, camping, food trucks and military equipment show.

  • Trolley will pick up by Gate D and transport riders into and out of the fairgrounds.  Riders will be dropped off close to where the festival activities start.  It is suggested that those wishing to utilize this convenience who may have mobility issues,  be dropped off at Gate D.
  • Food trucks will include Northcoast Deli & Mr Melon 2, Mannies Munchies, Simply Delish, and Franks Fries.
  • A limited number of camping spaces are available for the weekend, with a pull-in deadline of 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 3rd.
  • Military vehicles will be on display in the grassy area by Flower Fairway and Cattle Drive over the long weekend.

Golf carts will not be permitted on the grounds for this event with the exception of those being utilized by the organizers. For details on camping, please contact the WC Ag Society at 419-352-0441.

Pyrotecnico will return as the pyrotechnics engineers for this event.   Their team has 125 years’ experience and have provided award-winning displays internationally including this year’s Super Bowl.  Safety is paramount for their teams and the Lead Shooter Carl Schmeig was really pleased to have the perfect area from which to conduct the show.

At 9 PM, the stage changes and festival goers will need to leave the fairgrounds and retreat to a viewing area for the fireworks.  The fairgrounds will be secured and no one will be permitted to watch the fireworks from anywhere inside the fairgrounds.

The display will be launched from the property of the National Tractor Pulling Championships, the same location as last year.  It is highly recommended for those panning to watch the fireworks to park in the East and North Parking lots of the Fairgrounds off of Brim Road.  Enter these lots through Gate E  which is off Brim Road and across from Christopher Drive.   This parking area will provide an unobstructed view and best viewing of the fireworks.

No unauthorized persons will be allowed in any area that is marked with caution tape in the area of the cement barricades.  Organizers appreciate everyone be aware of these areas so that a safe and organized experience can be provided.  The Wood County Sheriff’s Office will be present within the fairgrounds parking area to assist in enforcing these precautions.

Additional parking will be available in the lot across from the Fairgrounds on Poe Road.  This parking area is very convenient for those going to the festival, but does have some trees that obstruct the view of the fireworks.  This is why we are recommending the North and East lot parking for the fireworks.   There will not be volunteers guiding parking in the Poe Road Parking Lot.

For more details about BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks, please visit: This site will be available during the festival and fireworks as well and includes a map of the activities.

At the conclusion of the display, if you are leaving the main parking area from Gate E onto Brim Rd., you will be directed to turn left and if you are leaving from Gate D onto Brim, you will be directed to turn right.  Those parked at the Poe Road lot will only be able to exit onto Haskins Road. Bowling Green Police Division will provide crowd control and traffic direction outside of the Wood County Fairgrounds.

A sizable number of volunteers are needed in order for this event to happen. Please consider donating 2 hours of your time to the festival, grounds keeping, parking, handing out prizes, or running a fun game. Volunteers are also needed on July 4th for grounds clean-up. BG Boom Festival and Fireworks can only happen if the community comes together to help. Visit to sign-up today!

This event could not happen without the sponsorships and donations from the community.  Thank you to all who have contributed already.  Donations can still be made to support the community fireworks through the BG Chamber of Commerce Foundation and sent to the Chamber office at 217 S. Church St., Bowling Green, OH  43402.

A rain date for the fireworks will be Tuesday, July 5th.  All other activities of the festival will not be rescheduled for this rain date.
