Accepted Items
Cardboard / Paperboard
- Flattened corrugated cardboard boxes
- Boxboard and paper cartons (cereal and other dry food boxes, paper bags, paper egg cartons)
- Remove all packing materials
Paper Food Containers
- Frozen food boxes, cereal, paperboard containers
- Juice and broth boxes
- Milk and ice cream containers
- Paper egg cartons
Paper
- Clean, dry newspaper (do not bundle)
- Junk mail
- Magazines and catalogs
- Office paper
- Paperback books
- Phone books
- No shredded paper! Shredded paper may be taken to the Bowling Green Recycling Center's 24-hour drop off, but should not be recycled in your curbside bins
Mixed Plastics (Numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 & 7)
- Look on bottom of containers for a number inside the recycling arrows
- Caps on! Empty, flatten and put lids back on
- Plastic Bottles and Jars
- Examples:
- Milk jugs
- Detergent and shampoo bottles
- Plastic pop/water bottles
- Plastic jars
- Examples:
- Plastic Containers with Lids
- Examples: Yogurt Containers, Butter Tubs, Cottage Cheese Containers
- None of the following types of plastic:
- Bulky plastics (crates, buckets, pipes, etc.)
- Deli containers
- Plastic "thermoform" packaging
- Plastic bags
- Plastic toys
- Styrofoam
- Takeout / "To Go" containers
Glass
- Bottles and jars only! (all colors)
- No window glass, ceramics, dishes, or mirrors
Aluminum & Steel
- Aluminum beverage cans
- Steel cans
- Please rinse and flatten to save space
- No aluminum foil/trays or scrap metal; these items may be recycled at the Bowling Green Recycling Center's 24-hour drop off location
