Engineering

The Engineering Division is responsible for performing engineering, surveying, and design of City water, sewer, pavement, sidewalks, and other projects as needed.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for recruitment of personnel, maintenance of employee records, administration of employee benefits and coordination of same with state and federal laws, negotiating and administration of union contracts, and administration of the City's employee safety program.

The Law Department is comprised of the City Attorney and the City Prosecutor, and operates under section 30.25 and 30.26 of the Codified Ordinances.

Planning

The City Planning Department is charged with the responsibility of carrying out the City's planning function including the preparation and updating of the City's Comprehensive Master Plan. The Department also administers some ordinances implementing the adopted plan.

Safety

The Safety Department consists of the Divisions of Fire and Police. The Safety Director acts as the executive head of the department, establishes and designates crosswalks, safety zones, traffic lanes, issues licenses, and makes and enforces temporary traffic regulations to cover emergencies or special conditions.

The Bowling Green Utilities Department works tirelessly to keep electric and water systems within the City maintained.
